Off-Road Design Relies on AMSOIL

In 2009 Stephen Watson of Off-Road Design (ORD) approached AMSOIL to request sponsorship for the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race, a grueling 3-day, 1,000 mile endeavor taking place on desert terrain. In a proving ground where only the strongest survive, AMSOIL joined to help their truck endure such a punishing environment. ORD landed a respectable 2nd place finish in their class, which solidified their status as a force to be reckoned with in the sport.

Since that time Off-Road Design has been establishing their place among the best in the industry. 2011 brought some challenges for the team, including a disappointing 28th place finish in the prestigious King of the Hammers event caused by a broken link arm. In true sportsman-like conduct, Watson and team continued to work through the race helping clear trail jams and keep others in the running. Their showing of leadership led to Raceline Wheels recognizing their efforts by giving them the Raceline KOH 2011 Sportsmanship Award.  Even when their luck is down and out, Team ORD has a record of finishing every race they start no matter what the final position looks like.

Despite the hardships of 2011, 2012 is already looking to be an eventful year for Watson and ORD. They pre-qualified for King of the Hammers 2012 and are slated to join several other high-profile 4x4 and rock crawling events, all while finishing the Ultra4 Pro Series racing season.  Off-Road Design and their ’99 GMC K2500 have been landing some high-profile coverage in leading 4WD publications such as Diesel Power and Peterson’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road. Watson recently took the time to send a nice testimonial our way as to why he turned to AMSOIL for his projects that demand the performance and protection only AMSOIL delivers.

The time to think about whether your coolant is good or your gear oil can take the abuse is not when it’s 107 degrees on a nasty rock crawling trail at a highly publicized event,” said Watson. “We use AMSOIL and focus on the driving, camping, scenery, friends, family or just about anything else.”

AMSOIL will be keeping up with Watson and Off-Road Design throughout 2012. Be sure to check back to www.AMSOILRacing.com for all the latest news and developments.
