As we mentioned in our previous blog, so much has happened throughout the previous year that we couldn’t fit it all into one space. Read on for the conclusion of the 2011 recap of events and happenings with AMSOIL throughout the last year.
At the end of May the highly anticipated AMSOIL Street Rodder Road Tour hit
the pavement, led by none other than Street Rodder Road Tour Director Jerry Dixey. As the tour curator, Dixey was the captain of the custom-built ’55 Chevy that led tour participants on 8 different road trip adventures across the nation throughout the summer. As Dixey and crew made the journey great memories were created along the way, even for those that happened to cross paths with the Tour on America’s highways.
June brought forth one of the most grueling and exciting events of the year: The Top Truck Challenge. In its 19th year, the week-long competition brought
together 10 four-wheel drive off-road machines in a showdown for survival of the fittest. Drivers were separated into two classes in either the Truck or Buggy category and made to clear insane obstacles. The Frame Twister, Mud Pit, Obstacle Course and Tank Trap are a few of the challenges these trucks endured while trying to keep their rigs intact, but not all made it through the week. Ultimately, Alex Sanders took home the win for the Buggy class while Steven Montpas won the Truck class title.
In August the NSRA Nationals came to Louisville for the 42nd Annual Street Rod Nationals. Over $385 million dollars worth of vintage street rods were on
display, with thousands of enthusiasts coming out to see them. A highlight of this year’s event was the honor of AMSOIL receiving an NSRA Best New Product of the Year award for AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oils, which are specially formulated for street rod applications. An added bonus was the arrival of Jerry Dixey in his ’55 Chevy that led the AMSOIL Street Rodder Toad Tour. Louisville was definitely a sight to behold in 2011.
The AMSOIL Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge came next in September, getting
underway at Comp Cams Dyno testing facility. This event gives engine builders a platform for showcasing their talents and spreading the word to the market that needs them. AMSOIL is installed in every engine as they compete to see which one is capable of the best overall peak horsepower & torque ratings.
Finally, November saw the mighty SEMA Show take Las Vegas by storm as thousands of attendees showed up to witness the latest and greatest in the automotive manufacturing industry. The show is not open to the public, but its
impact reaches just about every motorist on the road today. Companies turn out to showcase their offerings and see what the latest trends are, and AMSOIL was definitely a part of the scene. The New Product Showcase showed the industry what was new with AMSOIL by featuring our newly launched products from 2011, and a bevy of show cars with AMSOIL installed could be found throughout the SEMA show floor bearing the AMSOIL logo.
