2011 Events Year in Review: Part I

As we wind up another eventful year, let’s take a few moments to reflect on the happenings of 2011. So much has taken place over the course of the past 12 months; here is a look at some of the events that made 2011 so successful.

In January after its debut at the 2010 SEMA show, the Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords AMSOIL 5.0 Mustang GT landed a prime spot on the cover of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine. Accompanied by an article that detailed the project build from start to finish, the AMSOIL Mustang GT turned heads everywhere it appeared.  Top-notch modifications and eye-catching fire effects paint keep this Mustang a force to be reckoned with among others on the Mustang scene.

In March AMSOIL joined forces with Super Chevy Magazine to headline the first-annual AMSOIL Best of the Best events at Super Chevy shows around the US. Attracting the best of Chevy show cars in the nation, the AMSOIL Best of the Best contest sought to determine which were most worthy of the title in 5 categories; Tri-Five, Nova, Camaro, Chevelle & Full-Size. After preliminary finalists were selected at each show, Super Chevy readers cast their votes online in the final round and selected the top five to be crowned ultimate Best of the Best.

March was also the month when the rumble of thousands of bikes descended on Daytona Beach for the 70th annual Daytona Bike Week. AMSOIL was the presenting sponsor and official oil as Daytona Bike Week kicked off the motorcycle season for the entire country. Laconia Motorcycle Week followed in June, with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally wrapping up in August. November marked the first year of AMSOIL’s involvement with the Lone Star Rally, a rapidly growing motorcycle event in Galveston, TX. As the Official Oil of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country, AMSOIL continues to prove that motorcycle riders can indeed Ride Hard and Run Cool.

The National Street Rod Association, or NSRA, held its first event of the year in Oklahoma City in April. It was the start of an exciting 12 show season that ultimately saw thousands upon thousands of street rods turn out over the course of its run. AMSOIL has been a proud supporter of the NSRA since 2007, when it became an Official Product Sponsor for this prestigious organization.

The Diesel Power Challenge ushered in spring as it kicked off in early May in Denver. 10 mighty diesels came to battle it out in a series of challenges such as the tow test, sled pull, dyno run and even a ¼ drag racing challenge held at the legendary Bandimere Speedway. In the end, Rocky Horn took home the glory with his first-place winning 1997 Ford F-350 powered by a Cummins engine.

So much has happened in 2011 that we can’t fit it all here. Be sure to check back next week for Part II of the Events Year in Review recap to see what else we have been up to.
